Help us present groundbreaking exhibitions and develop educational programs about our nation's history for more than 200,000 schoolchildren annually.

Out of an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19, the New-York Historical Society is suspending all in-person programming from Monday, March 16 through Thursday, April 30.

In our commitment to continue providing high quality history education, we are in the process of rolling out a plan to provide FREE CTLE-approved distance learning workshops for teachers herePlease stay tuned for more details and registration.

If you are a school seeking remote customized professional development workshops or curriculum support, please email professional.learning@nyhistory.org.

Custom professional learning experiences in our Museum and in your schools incorporate American history, primary sources, and our inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. We have extensive experience working with teachers, administrators, teachers-in-training, and other education professionals.

Our team can help you create a professional learning experience that meets your group’s needs, including collaborating to find the best format for your group. Other popular formats include:

  • A single or series of 80-minute workshops in your school that fulfill the weekly NYC DOE professional learning requirement
  • A full-day retreat for your team in our Museum galleries and classrooms
  • Private museum educator-led tours of temporary and permanent exhibitions
  • A comprehensive professional learning community focused on bringing our inquiry-based strategies into classrooms in your school or district

The New-York Historical Society is an NYSED-approved CTLE sponsor, and participation in workshops is applicable towards maintaining professional certification from the New York City Department of Education.
